My ex has hacked into my hotmail account?

How did he do it ? I have changed my password today. We now live in separate houses so we no longer share a computer and he would not be able to use keystroke recording software to steal my password. But could he have done it another way ? Do I need to abandon my hotmail account and set up a new one ? I feel really upset about it, the low down snooper, and it has made me paranoid about my phone and my mobile too.....

Keystroke recording software will e-mail all your keystrokes to an e-mail address. So it doesnt matter if you dont share the computer anymore. Setting up a new account will only give him the new info. Search you computer files for keystroke recording software. If you can search the internet you will find many different software companies that sell keystroke recording software and the file names. If you are positive there are no keystroke recording software on your computer, then maleware could be a possibility. who's the admin of your computer? Is your computer set up for file sharing? There is also a possibility of remote login? So there are a few of the many possibilities. One would have to physically examine your computer to properly diagnose your situation.
Reply:Well if you only changed your password today it is likely he knew your old password and login name, and thus was using that to get into your account!!

If he can get this info he can also add stuff to your comp that you dont want there...even stuff u could get in troble for. Reply:Hotmail can be accessed from any computer on the Net by anyone that has the account name and password. If you have changed the p/w, unless he is a master hacker, you are OK.
Reply:It looks like he knew your password. Lots of people have a habit of writing them down and leavng them scattered on their computer desks.





I would abandon the old hotmail account and set up a new one. I'd change any security codes on my mobile too.

actually he could still be using a keylogger to email him your keystrokes.

Reply:He could have guessed your details / he could have seen you type in the details / he could have used your email, logged on and used the I forgot my password section....he lived with you so probably knows all your personal info (mothers maiden name / favourite pet / first school etc...).





Email hotmail and ask them whether your password was changed and when etc... tell that that your account has been compromised and you want to find out how this happened.





Get rid of your account and change your numbers, change your security questions and email name and use something completely different he won't be able to guess.





Make sure your PC security firewall etc.,. is secured.
Reply:What a horrible vindictive guy! He probably knew your habits and guessed what the new password would be? I would definitely change accounts, and make a long alphanumeric password that he'll never guess. Maybe changing your mobile number would be a good idea too. Good luck!!
Reply:It is not that hard to hack into your hotmail account. MS has done a lot for security. Do you know if your bf knows your password? Or your password is a very easy to guess? One last question is: Is your boyfriend very good at computer stuff?





You can definitely call the cops and ask them to send him a warrant for all the harassments he has given you.
Reply:If he knows your email address and password it's easy, but he could have got in by pretending to forget the password and answering your secret question.

Though, he could have installed a keylogging software by either email or before you guys broke up.





I would double check using Spybot S%26amp;D and Adaware.
Reply:uh.. if u change ur password to something else that he would never think about u should be good! But.. if he figures it out every-time then do a differnet account but 4 now wait it out and see what happens with ur new password.

Reply:He may have installed keylogging software which automatically mails him your keystrokes. He may also have set your anti-virus and anti-spyware to ignore the keystroke logger he installed. He could have done all this before he left. Check your AV and Anti-spyware to check that no programs are ignored. Does he still have a key to your house - or know how to get in when you're out? If so, check the cable between your keyboard and your PC for a hardware keystroke logger. BTW, If he has installed a keystroke logger, he'll soon know you've asked this question!

Also if he knows things like your Date of Birth %26amp; Special Answers he can hack your account Easy !








So Go and Change Everything / Change your Date of Birth Settings and so on .





Also make sure you dont have History Folder on that will save all your Convos on msn ect

1. seen you in the past type your password in and remembered it.


2. used key logging software when you were living together.


3. you forgot to sign out of your email and he got your passord somehow that way





thats just to name a few i know there is a few more in depth ways to get a password also.





just change everything if it scares you that much perhaps a new email provoder too if you do. if it did me i would.
